Who we are
The Jennings Method is a strength and conditioning coaching business operated by Chris Jennings (ABN 94 739 560 487) in Melbourne, Australia. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean The Jennings Method.
We take privacy seriously because of what we collect. Some of what you give us is about your body — pain, stiffness, injuries, physical capability. That is health information, and Australian privacy law treats it as sensitive information. This policy explains what we collect, why, who sees it, and what you can do about it.
We are bound by the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
What we collect
When you take the Athletic Age Test:
- Your name, email address and mobile number
- Your age
- Your sport
- Your answers to the twelve test questions and the scores generated from them — including answers about pain, stiffness, joint restriction and physical limitation
- The date and time you submitted, and the consent you gave
Automatically, when you visit the site:
- Your device type, browser and general technical information
- The page you arrived from, and any advertising parameters in the link (such as utm_source or fbclid), which tell us which ad or post brought you here
- Information collected by the Meta (Facebook) Pixel — see Advertising and tracking below
If you become a client:
- Injury history, training history, and health information relevant to programming safely
- Video you send for technique review
- Payment information, handled by our payment provider — we do not store your card details
We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. The Athletic Age Test is limited to people aged 18 and over.
Why we collect it
- To generate and send your Athletic Age Test result
- To follow up with you personally about that result
- To send you coaching emails and text messages, where you have consented
- To design training that is safe and appropriate for your body
- To run and improve our advertising, and understand which ads bring people to the test
- To operate, secure and improve the website
- To meet our legal obligations
Health information specifically.
We collect it only with your consent, and use it only to understand your current physical capability, design training that suits your body, and decide whether we are the right fit for you. We do not use health information for advertising. We do not sell it. Ever, to anyone.
Your consent
You give consent by ticking the box on the test form before submitting. That consent covers both:
- our collection of the information you've entered, including the health-related answers, and
- our sending you emails and text messages about your result and our coaching.
You can withdraw consent at any time — see Opting out. Withdrawing consent for marketing doesn't affect records we are required to keep.
Information sent overseas
Some of our providers — including HighLevel and Meta — store and process data outside Australia, principally in the United States. By using this site and submitting the test, you consent to that disclosure.
We take reasonable steps to use reputable providers, but once information is held overseas it may be subject to the laws of that country, and Australian privacy law may not be enforceable against that provider in the same way. If you would rather your information stayed in Australia, don't submit the form — email us instead and we'll work something out.
Advertising and tracking
We use the Meta Pixel on this site. It places cookies and sends Meta information about your visit — pages viewed, and actions such as starting or completing the test — so we can measure our advertising and reach people who may be interested.
We do not send Meta your test answers, your scores, or any health information.
You can limit this:
- Adjust the ad settings in your Facebook or Instagram account
- Use your browser's privacy settings to block third-party cookies
- Use a browser extension that blocks tracking pixels
We also record which ad or link brought you here, so we know what's working. That is stored against your record in our CRM.
Opting out
Email — every marketing email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click, effective immediately.
SMS — reply STOP to any message.
Everything — email coachchrisjennings@gmail.com and ask to be removed. We'll do it and confirm.
Opting out of marketing doesn't delete your record. If you want that, see below.
How long we keep it
- Test results and contact details, if you don't become a client — up to 2 years from your last interaction with us, then deleted.
- Client records, including health information — at least 7 years from the end of our coaching relationship, consistent with health record retention requirements in Victoria.
- Advertising and analytics data — as per the retention settings of the platforms involved.
If you ask us to delete your information and we're required to keep some of it, we'll tell you what we're keeping and why.
How we protect it
Your information is held in access-controlled accounts with reputable providers, secured with strong passwords and multi-factor authentication. Only Chris Jennings has access. We don't keep spreadsheets of client data on personal devices.
No system is perfectly secure. If a data breach occurs that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, as required under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
Getting access, or correcting something
You can ask what we hold about you, ask for a copy, and ask us to correct anything that's wrong. Email coachchrisjennings@gmail.com.
We'll respond within 30 days. There's no charge for asking. If we refuse — which would be unusual — we'll tell you why in writing, and how to complain about it.
Complaints
If you think we've mishandled your information, tell us first: coachchrisjennings@gmail.com. We'll acknowledge within 5 business days and respond within 30 days.
If you're not satisfied, you can complain to:
- Office of the Australian Information Commissioner — oaic.gov.au · 1300 363 992
For complaints specifically about health information in Victoria, you can also contact the Health Complaints Commissioner (Victoria) at hcc.vic.gov.au.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this page when our practices change, and update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we handle your information, we'll tell people on our list directly.
